Hi, I'm CJ.
With over 10 years of experience spanning multiple startups and corporations, I have served as a design leader and top tier performer specializing in data-visualization and operational products. Hiring managers and clients hire me for B2B and B2B2C SaaS products, data-intensive applications, products with complex operational workflows, and to help create more efficient internal product teams to help drive growth and increase profitability.
As a product designer, I am always looking to collaborate with highly talented engineering and product teams that are committed to delivering the best possible products. I firmly believe that the best outcomes arise from working together, listening to feedback, and iterating based on user insights.
When I’m not designing, you can find me raising three personality-filled daughters, listening to jazz and film scores, woodworking in my garage, digging in to philosophy, or at the gym working toward new PRs.

Background
So how did I get to this point? I actually went through high school thinking of little else beyond music. I lived and breathed jazz saxophone and music composition, and I ultimately entered college to pursue a degree in music composition and film scoring. One of the rare deviations from my music obsession, however, was to take a design course where I thoroughly enjoyed what I learned and was eventually asked to create our high school course catalog. Looking back, I really enjoyed how the approach of design is so similar to the approach of composing music for film scores: in both instances, you have to intentionally drive toward creating desired outcomes for a target audience.
As fate would have it, I found the music program at my University to be under-whelming as I was simultaneously growing more interested in understanding how people tend to think and work. Two years into my education, I switched my major to anthropology with minors in philosophy and music. At the time, I didn't realize how important anthropology would be for my future career as a designer and researcher, but in hindsight I'm incredibly grateful that things worked out the way they did. I've utilized many aspects of my training in more ways than I can count.
As I graduated college I took up photography, which served as a gateway into an obsession with Photoshop and the Adobe suite. Around this same time, I took a job with J.B. Hunt doing some billing work. Fast forward a little bit, and after fate did its thing and had me cross paths with the new design director at J.B. Hunt, I found myself working full time in research and design roles. And the rest is history.
